Remington 1100 Receiver Serial Number Chart
I just recently purchased a Remington 1100 shotgun that has a serial number on the receiver that is 'L79xxxxV'. I'm trying to figure out when it was made and from what I read on a site it stated the first letter would be the month and then the first two numbers would be the year (so mine would be Feb 1979?!?). Beginning in 1968, Remington 1100 serial numbers started carrying the letter 'L' prefix. This is not secret info, it's been around for years. As a matter of interest, I have never seen a letter from Remington, on letterhead stationary, that was wrong on the date, except where they told me they had no records of 4 or 5 digit serial numbered. The 'X' you show at end 'Suffix Letter' of the serial number you give, if truly a 'X' and not you being silly and messing with us to hide your serial number for some unknown reason; means that your gun is a 20 gauge 'Heavy Frame'. This type of 1100 was the first ones offered in 20 gauge and were built on the original 12 gauge frame. If your firearm does have a serial number, if you will call or email to the address below, the serial number and model number we can determine the approximate age of your firearm. Contact Remington through their Help Center by e-mail at info@remington.com or call. This serial number decoder will translate this information, determining the exact month and year that your specific firearms was created. Remington 700, 870 or 1100 serial/barrel number lookup will work with Remington 700, 870 or any other Remington shotgun or rifle. It will show you date of manufacture of your firearm. It is very easy to use.
